- King Shaka is about 35 km north of the city, near Umhlanga. Kingsmead is central, close to the beachfront, so the transfer runs from the northern edge of town into the centre.

- Ride-hailing is the practical way in from the airport and around the city. A base on the beachfront keeps you walkable to the seafront and close to the ground; Umhlanga, nearer the airport, is quieter.
